Consider using crack, along with the superglue. Supposed to improve the strength of the joint.
I assume you don't mean cocaine, so what is 'crack' in this context?

Its an additive used along with superglue. Supposed to speed up the setting time & increase the strength of the joint made.
Edit
For joint read repair made.

Hmm, Googling for 'crack' and 'superglue' isn't much use because it just returns thousands of results about superglueing cracks!

It probably works along the same lines as the tip demonstrated by the man in the video in my first post. I'm going to reinforce my repair with something fibrous, though I'm not sure about using paper. (I'll test using paper reinforcement on some scraps of plastic and see if it really works.)

I've had mixed results with both superglue and epoxy. They'll stick some plastics really well but on others (notably polyethylene) they're rubbish.

+1. I have also tried Loctite's special "ALL PLASTICS" (i.e. including polyethylene or polypropylene) superglue. £X for not much more than a pea sized dollop. A wee bit better than normal superglue (which is useless - well what do you expect when such plastic is used for the glue's reuseable cap?), but I certainly wouldn't rely on it holding anything valuable. Also that aktivator pen won't let you get into a crack/gap.

I can see superglue soaked fabric can be useful as reinforcement, but that is not the same as a good bond, if a good bond is essential. If reinforcement works given it is a bar mount is it possible to use/modify a Jubilee clip?

During my search for a good glue for those plastics (and which was not successful), someone somewhere said anybody who discovers a strong, simple glue for those two plastics would become a billionaire overnight.

Its now termed as a "kicker".
Shop below is one I have used, which is why I've put their link in. They know what they are talking about & have never tried to sell me anything I've not gone in for. See what they'd suggest.

The worst you can do is ask them.

Spen Bearings in Halifax/Cleckheaton is another option.

I'm going to try the reinforced superglue first. If that doesn't work, I think I will try the old 'weld' plastic pieces together with a hot soldering iron trick!

One thing - I can hold the two pieces very tightly together while the glue is drying, simply by tightening the bolt which caused the problem in the first place.

It doesn't matter for now because I have another mount, but fixing the original one would mean that I don't have to swap the spare one between bikes.

superglue was designed to stick skin together

apparently.

Normally available superglue contains cyanide, and should not be used to stick wounds together. Whereas medical superglue doesn't have the cyanide in it so is obviously safe to use on your skin. Bit of useless information.^_^
