How often do you wash your bike in the winter honestly?

Never!

When I still had to work in the office, I cleaned the fixie once a year, in spring. All the chromed steel bits (mainly bolt heads) got a smear of vaseline before winter to keep the salt off. New chain, brake pads and brake cable each year, tyre pressures and chain tensioning every 3 weeks.

Choosing a matt black bike was a mistake at so many levels. But there we are.
The next wash will be the second this winter.
Bucket of hot soapy water and an old washing up brush thing. That gets stuff off, then a hose down.

Feel guilty about not really cleaning the mudguards.
I know my Tuesday route is very mucky and there is accumulated crud on them.

The belt drive means there is no messy chain and gears to clean.

My last bike was matt (or satin) black, the problem is that the paint's not waterproof, so it's covered in rust that's just erupting through the paint. The previous bike had gloss paint, and was completely rust free despite having spent 10 years longer in the same damp garage.

Bikes can be washed?!

Give mine a quick wipe down of its painted frame as needed and unless caked with an oil and grease wipe which is normally sufficient. Need to get some more, the stack bought from Lidl years ago have run out.
