I washed my commuter/'day to day' bike, last week, for the first time since I put it together (last July)
Choosing a matt black bike was a mistake at so many levels. But there we are.
The next wash will be the second this winter.
Bucket of hot soapy water and an old washing up brush thing. That gets stuff off, then a hose down.
Feel guilty about not really cleaning the mudguards.
I know my Tuesday route is very mucky and there is accumulated crud on them.
The belt drive means there is no messy chain and gears to clean.
Try a glossy white bike next time!!😭😭😭
My last bike was matt (or satin) black, the problem is that the paint's not waterproof, so it's covered in rust that's just erupting through the paint. The previous bike had gloss paint, and was completely rust free despite having spent 10 years longer in the same damp garage.Choosing a matt black bike was a mistake at so many levels.
When regularly commuting by bridleway, the chain and drive component got a regular clean.
The rest of the bike; well I'm not sure the rest of it has ever been cleaned....
