It is unlikely that he has ridden with every club in the country, so how would he know?

Perhaps a poor choice of words on my part. I just wondered whether his perception was based on a particular club or just cycle clubs in general.

Cheers.

I'm sure the attitude of some clubs can be off-putting. My experience of being in one is that most people are friendly & supportive.

Every Sunday since I joined a couple of months ago.

It's doing wonders for my fitness (notably hill-climbing) and I'm gradually sussing-out the regional geography (newly local).
Add in friendly, supportive cyclists, good cake and coffee - not much to dislike really!

Hardly ever. I don't like to have fixed stuff to do at the weekend, and I like to ride later in the day and alone.

I do question my continued club membership when I'm clearly not much of a joiner.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Every Saturday and Sunday if possible (I arrange the club Saturday Leisure rides diary), and training with the club on Tuesdays in the summer. Then out with club members on an ad hoc basis one day most weeks.
