Yes its a 16inch, its too big for me at 4 foot 11 my friend is about 5 foot 3 she's really looking forward to it

Asda do a Gear and Brake cable kit for around £3.70 and pretty good brake blokes from £2.70ish. Inner Tubes can be picked up from the £2 mark and tyres vary from £15 and upwards. I reckon very worst case scenario you are looking at £40 (thats assuming two new tyres, tubes cables, oil, the works)

I'm not sure louise needs a good set of brake blokes!

I think you might have a point about the front brake cables. That'd be what my thoughts would be on if I was giving away a looked after but not used for a long time bike. Then again they could be absolutely fine.
