I'm the same height but I'm not sure I could cope with a 54.

If you prefer a smaller frame I'm not sure another 58 is the right move, though it is a nice bike.

I don't prefer a smaller frame. I
A 54 will be way too small for you. I'm 6' 3" and ride a 58/60 depending on the manufacturer.

I've borrowed a 54cm frame bike in the past and i've found it ok. A bit different ride to a bigger frame but still comfy and enough leg room.

I'm not bothering with the Focus for a few reasons. The postage is free but that would only be £25 anyway. As someone previously pointed out, it's best to view before buying and Hampshire is a long way from here! I bet the winning bid will be about £1200 and even though it has Dura Ace that's a lot to pay for a second hand bike. I'm also a bit dubious about second hand carbon from someone i don't know. Also, you have to pay by PayPal and i think i have about 25 quid in my account.

I think you'll find quite a difference between borrowing a bike that's too small and owning one. Obviously it's your choice, personally I like a bike that fits.

Well the one i borrowed fit quite well. After riding it for a while a 58cm framed bike felt like i was riding a penny farthing. Some like small frames and high saddle stems, some like big frames and saddles nearly touching the top tube.
What do you reckon to BW's frame size in this pic? He's around 6ft but that frame looks small to me.

That's because it is a smaller frame! Pro riders generally ride at least one size smaller than most, in order to get their desired low position (plus long slammed stems & huge amounts of seatpost showing). Wiggo rides a 56cm Pinarello frame. It'll depend on what the manufacturer can offer though. Ryder Hesjedal was riding a 56cm Cannondale, but his Trek frames are 58cm as Trek offer the lower-position H1 fit with longer headtubes than the H2 most buyers would choose.

Buy a 54 then, it's your choice. But I'll take bets that you'll be complaining of being in pain in 3 months.

Moreso, don't copy the pros with their bike fit. Even the pros tell you that.

If you prefer a 54cm frame why are you linking 58cm bikes then?

Maybe a 56cm with an appropriate stem would be a compromise...or maybe not...

Of course, not all manufacturers use the same measurement to determine the number on the frame sticker!
