I was wondering how much people generally spend at christmas?
How old are the recepients?
Does the amount include 'stocking' gifts?
Is it spent on wish lists or some of it on necessities ie. things you would have to buy anyway ie. trainers, football boots etc?

Curious because this year I'm thinking of setting a price limit felt I spent too much last year yet didn't seem much to show for it.

I think I'm not getting anything this year simply because im earning myself and that they don't have a clue what to get me!

But there's three of us (5, 14 &16) and I know for a fact they do set a price limit on presents, and alot of it will be stuff we will need to get. Stocking and "little presents" are never included in thier original budget though

I've got a nephew to buy for this year

He's only 2 yrs old, but I didn't see him last christmas, so I'll be going crazy in the toy shops.

I may even get him something

Great age to buy for but make sure to take whatever it is out of original wrapping and snip all the difficult ties etc so when he opens it he can take it out the box and play straight away (assuming it's something that needs that sort of treatment)

my mum always buys loads of little stocking fillers that i hate ...

some kind of jewellery (junk, usually naff not to my taste, and if its a ring its always too big by 3 sizes)
some kind of jewellery box/bag/wallet
hat and scarf to add to the collection
brolly
make up pallet (hate those things, don't like the colours and it goes to waste)
etc etc

so this year i made her promise not to and just buy me a bigger USEFUL present ... like B&Q vouchers so i can do my bathroom.

think from the look on her face i may already be too late tho.

well in that case my boys will be getting a "my pet ferret" stocking, and some new tubes to run through, and some raw rabbit for christmas dinner (YuK!)

Everything will be well and truely tested before hand

I've got to make sure everything works correctly

Not playing, it's called testing

My brother has bought a trainset and it took all our willpower not to set it up 2 weeks ago.

My Mom does this too - obviously not Jewellery but lame items such as a cheap diary (I dont use diaries!) or a pair of wool gloves etc.

I have already politely requested that she doesnt give me stocking fillers this year... although secretly hoping for a couple of cool cycling nick-nacks
