I thought mackerel didn't freeze well due to the high oil content, which is why we always sold them when we got too much.
I'm with you on the scallops though.![]()
Myself and dive buddy went fishing in my boat from time to time.
He won a bottle of vodka in a raffle just before we left once. Not very PC but it did not last until we came back with a good haul of fish.

We went after pollock or cod before mackerel. All fish including mackerel were filleted before freezing in individual meal sized packs and it seemed to work within time limits not exceeding 6 months.
Sadly I no longer have a boat due largely to the constraints and greedy charges of the marina so have to rely on others now.
