How long did it take you to change your first tyre

Cool. I found that with tight tyres, the skinny plastic levers were next to useless. So I purchased some more rigid beefier ones from Decathlon. These did the trick!

I presume you ARE using tyre levers, right? Should be able to squeeze 1 lever in an use it to work the bead onto the rim. Then move a couple of inches round the rim or insert lever #2 and do it again. Can be difficult (depending on the tyres) but with decent levers and practice you will be okay. I find getting the tyre OFF the rim more difficult, if they are tight tyres (aka Continental).

Well I just swapped Vittorias for Conti's and they are much easier to get on I think

Yeah I got a Gatorskin on the rear (27 x 1 1/4" wheel), wasn't too hard to fit. Didn't have much trouble refitting a (used before I had it) Bontrager Racelite 23 (700C) on the front either, very easy to put on.

Just fitted Gatorskins (25mm folding) to the road bike last weekend and they were okay to get on

defo use a lever, but a little air in the tube first as said, lately I seem to have mastered the thumb of stell to get the last of the tyre on, a tiny bit at a time and beleif is the thing

I had a unplanned deflation today, it ws almost boring fixing it, practice makes perfect

I can't remember how long it took me to change my first tyre, it was so long ago, way back in the 70's.

Hours.
Then again I was only about 8. I can remember jumping up and down on the spanner trying to get the wheel off, the nuts were on too tight for me to undo.

Then I couldn't get the tyre off. My parents eventually lent me some spoons after I had stuck twigs and god knows what in there to try and lever it off.

Beatcha.

My mum taught me when I was 7. I'd had the bike for about two months and got into the habit of skidding.

I had to pay for the replacement tyre and tube with my pocket money.
Mum stood over talking instructions while I did the dirty hands bit.

20 x 1 3/8 from Halfords. I sat in the garden unravelling the selophane wrapping. Then mum came out with a pair of scissors and showed me the quick way to get the wrapping off. Funny how embarassing moments are easily recalled
The next new tyre had its wrapper taken off in one piece - and then tied to the saddle rails and streamered up and down for the rest of the day
