1st.....I know there are a number of CCrs that have been in serious incidents/accidents and that is horrible.

A few days ago a friend of ours (late 50s) nipped out in the car for a newspaper.
Going through the lights on green a car came speeding through from the other road and smashed into him.
Car went on fire and is a total write off.
2 young guys who just left him there legged it.
Someone phoned the police who arrived with dogs......they caught the lads who were apparently high on drugs.
Our friend is in hospital. Broken sturnham and other injuries.
No chance the other car had insurance and it will be interesting to see what happens to the lads.

What terrible news.Scum should get five years at least. But what passes me off,is some solicitor will represe them and say things like deprived backgrounds, never done this before, they are so sorry I hope they get five years each. But I won't hold breath. Best wishes to him from here in Leeds.

They won't, unfortunately.

5 years is the maximum sentence for the offence of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and maximum sentences are very rarely imposed.

They certainly should get a custodial sentence though.

I was just looking out of the window yesterday and next door but one was being brought out in a body bag. So Carpe Diem, no one knows how long they have got.
Obviously a close neighbour then .
TBH we never speak to our next door neighbours (various reasons) although we get on well with several others.

I do hope your friend heals well, disgusting what has happened to him.

I think most of us have been around long enough to understand life is hanging by a thread and can be taken away or altered as quick as a flash. Despite many life lessons I have yet to live life as I think I should but the truth is, you can only worry about what you can control and enjoy each day as much as possible. Not always easy to remember but I certainly don't get upset about minor things the way I used to.

This happening to me is my main fear when driving. There are so many now approaching amber, ready to turn red lights just carrying on as if the lights don't apply to them! Driving through a red light that's been on for 2 or 3 seconds is quite normal around here. I always sit back for a second when the lights turn green, if those lights are at a crossroad.

I expect most people have gone past an ambulance crew attending an accident but actually being the 'lead actor' in the drama certainly changes your day  Not knowing the extent of your injuries is frightening as well as the pain making itself known as shock subsides. Resignation is the order of the day as your'e ****ed and going to be in the care of someone elses hands for some time. Ive often thought that if bad drivers experienced this it would change them for the better. :okay:
