How fast would the top riders be on the Tour if riding alone?

I only know they are a damn sight faster than me, I remember watching last years Today at the Giro, they got Juan Antonio Flecha to ride one of the mountain climbs, whilst describing what may occur during the race, he went round a corner, flew past a man grinding his way up, whilst still doing his piece to camera, the expression on that riders face as he shot up the hill was priceless,
Juan Antonio Flecha was retired from pro racing, but still has one heck of a pace.

Yes but parts of the tour are quite hilly! A pro training in the U.K. Isn't riding that terrain. 25 was a guess given I can average 14mph in London traffic and I am about as far removed from a pro as you can get

I've seen strava rides from top Pros (World Tour Teams) in the Peak District. 100+ miles with 10,000ft climbing (so very hard days) and they do about 18-19mph

Based on my relative speeds hilly v flat I would guess that would be about 23-24mph for them on a flat ride. As others have said if you look at the power outputs when they ride at those kind of speeds in the peleton they are low by their standards, certainly much lower than on the training rides I see on strava. You can see they need these "easy" days to cope with riding a 3 week tour
