I've woken not feeling ill with a virus/chesty cough for the first time in 10 days. On Saturday I'm doing a 100k sportive, the aim is to finish not in a heap. My last and longest ride this year was 85k with 1000m on the 18th June.

Is 54k with 600m too far today?

The saying goes something like regarding colds, 'if it's above the chest, you're fine to ride but if below the neck, don't'.

85km a few weeks ago is enough, you're not 'training' this week for it so there's no point pushing it- if I was you I'd go for a 30km spin to keep my knees turning and check everything's OK on the bike.
Nothing will be gained by a long ride today but damage may be done if you relapse.

Stay in bed for the whole week and watch the Tour De France live on ITV4 every afternoon.................

Darn it missed this.

I've done as suggested 28k at 21kph 220m HR avg 129 max 155 vs on the 85k run 21.7kph HR 143 avg max 173. Just needed to roll the legs over and as said check the bike (I've had the drive train off and cleaned it). And checked that I can stomach SiS go Raspberry energy powder with electrolytes. I don't normally have energy in my water but with 5 plus hours planned I thought it best to get this extra energy input. I did the same Sportive 3 years ago and suffered in the heat. More likely rain this time.

No riding in the next few days is going to help you on Saturday. I'd follow the advice of others in this thread, and go for a 30km ride today (little late, sorry) or tomorrow, then rest on Thursday and Friday. 30km is enough to see that you are as well as you think you are, without exhausting you.

If you then have any tweaks to the bike (eg new chain or tyres) then go for a 10 or 20k ride to make sure everything is ok.
