I'm 52 and I have a 10 mile round commute every day & maybe another 5-6 miles gentle jaunt around the block to help dinner go down & avoid 'sofa-itis' in the evenings... but my commute is now fairly quick at around 15mph average speed depending on traffic with 24 mph max the other day on the flat... and no longer feel like I need an iron lung when I arrive... After 10 months of this I'm considerably fitter & lost nearly two stone in weight - plus my work colleagues are starting to ask me questions on cycling & many are now cycling in... RESULT! Just limbering up now for a 25 mile run this weekend - hopefully soon to be a regular thing...
