How do you lock up your bike at home?

So our flat's tiny and there's no way we can keep two bikes inside.

We've got a balcony that will fit a bike. But if you were determined, wearing a balaclava and had a swag bag, you could get up there.

How can I make the bike secure up there? I've seen some you can buy wall racks which I could lock the bike to - any recommendations?

Why can't the bikes stand in the bedroom? Afrter all you're asleep most of the time you're in there so you don't need the space.

If you leave them on the balcony cover them up with a vinyl bike cover so thieves can't see them. Or put something behind the railing to hide the bikes.

Suspend them from the ceiling?
It takes a little time to rig an effective sling system so that the bike hangs on its side and close to the ceiling, but once made up is simple to use.

Get a couple of big eff off D-Locks and lock it to the balcony.
You'll soon know soon enough if someone is trying to have it away.

Here in cph, I leave mine on a second floor balcony overnight, unlocked. When I'm not here it comes and stays inside the apartment. My B stays in the apartment unless I'm riding it.

There is secure bike parking in the underground car park of the apartment block. Bikes get stolen from there regularly and I don't like having to ride into around and out of an underground carpark.

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
I use a heavy duty , high tensile motorcycle chain that has a five digit combination lock built into it, I also use a pir sensor alarm.
Similar to this - the best bikes are locked to a wall-anchored motorcycle alarm. Others are locked to each other (ideally head-tail) or to random heavy objects in the shed.

On the balcony, I'd treat any railings like a bike stand: D-lock at one end, alarmed cable at the other. If no railings, see if I can fix a wall or floor anchor to something, after checking with the landlord, offering to restore with concrete and paint before I leave but they might see it as a feature worth having.
