I sweat quite a bit, as I'm a baldy the sweat goes straight into the helmet and if left there it does smell.

I take the removable foam pieces off once a week and put them in the washing machine (inside a net bag so I can find them again!)

One day I will try a sweat band or bandana thingy to see if that makes a difference.

My helmet doesn't smell stinky tbh, but I only get it out when I'm off road or when I'm with the kids

Can't believe I haven't got in on this thread earlier

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Scrub the straps with washing up liquid a nail brush , wash the pads + helmet and then soak overnight in a bucket of water with a weight on top so it stays submerged.
Hang up to dry

Helps that i have 2 helmets so i have a wash and wear .

I fill the kitchen sink up with disinfectant and soak it overnight, rinse it through in the morning and hang it on the clothes line (if dry) or on an airer indoors (if bad weather). About once a week usually.

The present one doesn't have any pads left, they gave up a year or so back, so it doesn't get too smelly, but I don't like the thought of the sweat not being washed out.

My shaved head means my MTB helmet really gets quite smelly. I remove the pads and wash them in the sink with fairy. The straps needs a quick soak and rinse, and the whole thing gets swabbed out with a damp cloth.

In the summer I wear half a buff folded double to form a 4 inch wide sweatband. This stops some of the sweat running into my eyes but leaves the top of my head open to the helmet vents.

I once binned one of Cubester's helmets because it smelled so rank even the dog would avoid it. Teen boys really do have their share of the stench spectrum all to themselves don't they!

I don't think I have ever washed it.

I just assumed that a ride in the rain every now and then sorted it out.

Wash it in the shower or the sink with a bit of soap or shower gel when I start noticing the smell myself, and I use a buff too.

Bloody hell I best get my wife to have a sniff of my helmet.

I bought a spare set of pads for mine so I can wash one set and use the other. Both my helmets are the same model so that helps with the pad rotation as well. The straps and carcass get an occasional wash with shampoo now and again.
