That would be a little bit like my saying I own s Seiko and a vintage Rolex. True, but one of them is a non-functioning ornament.

You could always get the Seiko fixed.

I imagine that eight pages of debate might just suggest that there is at least some debate....be it acceptable or unacceptable. I detect a certain momentum behind the mob......but I must admit it has proved an entertaining distraction.......I can hardly wait to meet some of you in the flesh......do you think they do a kevlar tweed ensemble?

yep, you're right, you're imagining 8 pages of debate, readers employing comprehension, however, are seeing 8 pages of you being called a twat

Dear All,

Thank you for your time and for all of your contributions to my posts.

In truth I do not think that this forum or the sort of social dynamic I have experienced on it is really for me.

Doubtless I have upset some people,....and I cannot deny that I have found some of your over reactions utterly hilarious......... and to my shame I have been unable to resist the temptation to stir things a touch.

When I consider this from a more objective point of view,..... I am a little ashamed of myself....from time to time....inbetween the giggles

......Can I thank those who have shown me the sort of consideration that I have found only too readily demonstrated in the world of real cycling.

In short I think it might be better for all concerned if I get out on my bike rather than chew the cud here.(....What? what?...are they resounding cheers I hear?)

It has been an interesting experience.

I wish all of you the very, very, best....may your punctures be few.

Adieu,

GC

I'm sure I was taught that being a gentleman wasn't about broadcasting one's sparkling wit and erudition but had more to do with displaying courtesy, humility and self-effacement. Brings to mind a comment I once heard about Posh Spice - 'living proof that the word 'posh' is relative.'

The true definition of a gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipes, but doesn't.

GC nooo nooo don't go please !!!

The forum needs you, we are after all a representative cross section of the cycling community and the general population, which of course includes schizophrenics such as your good self - we need your convoluted and slightly off kilter points of view and idiosyncratic observations.........

NOT !

I can't really believe I've just sat and read through this thread - some really pertinent replies, esp by Sam ! who is far more eloquent than either me ( which I readily admit to) or indeed GC (who probably wouldn't agree)

I've always been a pretty good judge of people upon meeting them for the first time, and indeed it's sometimes easy to imagine a persons personality by reading their posts . . I'm afraid GC strikes me as a pompous, self centred, narcissistic, confrontational knob head who imagines he is wiser, stronger, faster, than all around him.
The sort of person who if you met them in the flesh, after a few minutes small talk you would then distance yourself from for ever.

Yes it must be a 'he' as to post comments such as he makes indicates a fair degree of testosterone and a massive ego.

And to post this supercillious patronising reply really does show you in your glory:

Bravo! Bravo!......we are certainly turning a pedal or two here.....splendid.....errudition...debate....how reassuring....I am genuinely proud of you.

One thing I did wonder - is Gerry Atrick in league with GC ? some of his comments seem a little difficult to understand.

One thing GC has done (again) is instigate a thread which has developed to a (currently) 11 page spread !

Purveyor of fine nonsense
Just a casual glance at some of the subjects on this website reveals something less than ideal in respect of the manners and erudition of contributors. I'm not suggesting free and frank discussion should be quashed......but three word responses and expletives in the title don't really seem in the spirit of the great values of the wider Cycling family.

Does anyone have any idea as to how we might improve the quality of debate on this site?
