How do I use a chain measuring tool?

Just had one of these as a gift http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal...380955?hash=item5b2527ac5b:g:FDIAAOSwneRXRBQL. Packaging says it is a cone spanner, so no instructions. So how do I use it on an 11 speed chain?

So how do I use it on an 11 speed chain?

Same as on a 5 speed chain. Pitch is the same (1/2") so 0.75% elongation will be measured the same way. Personally I use a steel rule.
