Give the wife a baseball bat and let her take a swing at your nose.
1) You'll be in that much pain, you'll forget all about the microwave
2) The broken nose will result in a loss of smell, by the time it is fixed the microwave will have stopped smelling.
if it hasn't stopped smelling by the time you've got your sense of smell back, get the baseball bat and smash it up and then go buy a new one and next time eat the curry cold.
