I have a trek 7.3 fx hybrid, thought I would put some air in the tyres but managed to let it all out !! Anyway can I check they are supposed to be 60 psi plus? I can Bly get to 32 psi with my hand pump !! How do I get the other 30 in?

missed the first bit, check the tyre wall, it'll give you the nominal min and max pressure. you should inflate them dependent on what you'll be riding on, all tarmac then put the max in for minimal rolling resistance and a faster ride, if you want a bit more rolling road comfort at the expense of a bit of whoosh drop the pressure a bit. lower than maximum pressure is better if you will be using trails, towpaths, unmade surfaces etc for comfort again and better grip and going over stones, gravel and the like. Minimum pressure would probably feel quite wallowy and as if the tyre is about to roll off the rim.

my hybrid urban bike has 700 x 38 tyres and I run it usually ~80 psi as its invariably road with a bit of light trail, 70 if I fancy the towpath the tyrewall max is 85.

+1 for the topeak joe blow track pump and a topeak road morph whilst out and about.

A track pump isn't going to help Pikeman if he's out on the road when he needs it. I'd suggest a decent hand pump, maybe one of the ''morph'' kinds (I've a Topeak road morph and it's perfectly serviceable to 100psi+ and has a pressure valve). Others recommend Lezyne pumps.

Then get a track pump for easy use at home.

All track pumps around the £20 mark are good. I use an Airwave Storm and I've never had any trouble getting up to 120psi in it

I have a Serfas FMP-500 floor pump for home, and a Topeak Einstein DX mini-pump (at least for the commuter bike) for during rides. The mini-pump is a bit heavy, but on my 15kg commuter it's not really that noticeable, and this mini-pump works really well.
