I have a trek 7.3 fx hybrid, thought I would put some air in the tyres but managed to let it all out !! Anyway can I check they are supposed to be 60 psi plus? I can Bly get to 32 psi with my hand pump !! How do I get the other 30 in?
I used to use a hand pump that worked quite well, but I hadn't got a clue what pressure I was putting in of course, so i bought a Bontrager track pump, which has a pressure gauge fitted to it, and of course a floor plate to stand on whilst pumping. I now know what pressure is going in, and I get up to the required 110 psi very quickly too. The pump cost me a bit less than £30. Well worth getting one I reckon.
I was being flippant i too have the same floor pump and love it to bits but 60 psi ive found dooable with a hand pump as long as ive had my mtfu pills.
A track pump isn't going to help Pikeman if he's out on the road when he needs it. I'd suggest a decent hand pump, maybe one of the ''morph'' kinds (I've a Topeak road morph and it's perfectly serviceable to 100psi+ and has a pressure valve). Others recommend Lezyne pumps.
as above. Track pump at home, 60psi without you even noticing you've done it. \For out and about I'd recommend the topeak pocket rocket, its small and unobtrusive on the bike or fits in a pocket, decent size frame bag etc and I can comfortably get 90-100psi in at the roadside. Mrs SBIB has a lezyne one of similar size and price, that's pretty good too, again easily capable of 60 psi on the go.
