Hope vision 1 broken

My hope vision 1 is finally broken. I think it might be the button after all these years so I can send it off to hope to try and get it repaired - quite willing to pay for that.

It seems despite the 2013 update these are more difficult to get hold of now.

I have seen that there is the r2, r4 and r8. A bit wary of some of these options as I prefer something that is less bright and lasts for longer (6-12 hours). Also less keen on rechargeable units I have to charge at home and prefer AAs. On the other hand I've seen something that seems to suggest all hopes after 2008 use the same mount (as the vision 1), is this true? If so that would make me a lot more likely to get one. FYI I hate cateyes and their crappy mounts.

Just having had a quick google, Cyclestore have the V1 for £72 atm. Mount is the same on the old and new versions. Also worth trying Hope. Circuit board on my mark one got done free of charge, after several years of use.....

I can find it, it's just not like 2-3 years ago when the 'new' version came out and everywhere sold it. Even down the road (loathe to use them) sold them and they sell the others.

Contact Hope - their after sales & repair is excellent - we had a battery go out of warranty and they sent a replacement right away at no charge

Yes I've noticed that it seems less available.

I live in fear of it being discontinued in the mad rush to usb rechargeable things.

It would be a real pity, and daft, if it was discontinued as I will no way be buying a usb laser thingy. But would very likely buy a new version of the Vision 1 (I already have two, one of each version).

If it is discontinued I cannot help but think it will be because Hope fear it taking sales away from models that are needlessly sophisticated and over bright for normal road riding.

I had a similar problem with one of mine and Hope fixed it free of charge despite it being years old

@marinyork, are you still looking for a Hope 1 replacement? I've got an old Hope 1 kicking around somewhere. It's the original one without the low battery warning, is missing the mount (broken a long time ago!) and the 4AA battery holder, which replaced the broken holder in my newer Hope 1. I could bung it in the post if it's any use to you?
