A bloke on the club run yesterday had a load of oval pieces of cut out plastic milk bottle in his saddle bag.

At first I was questioning his sanity, then he showed me how they were tyre boots and now I am questioning my sanity at never having thought of that before.

Genius :bravo:.

Just thought I would share it with you lot.

Apologies if it's been posted before.

Like the chain tool, the mere fact that I carry a similar home made tyre boot means I never have to use it.

It's summat to protect the inner tube when the tyre gets damaged. Cut out a bit of a plastic bottle and stick it in with your puncture stuff. It weighs virtually nothing and the curvature of the bottle should ensure a snug layer of protection between ripped tyre and tube.

That is fantastic! Never considered what would happen if I damaged the actual tyre...

My line of work takes me to grubby building sites. On one such visit a bloke gave me his business card, which was of some kind of plastic, rather than card. The corners have now been removed with scissors and it lies in wait in my go-every-where kit for when my tyre needs booting.
