A few pictures of the complete bike would be helpful.Hello,
Can anyone help me with estimating the year of manufacture of my Holdsworth please? I am trying to value it in preparation to sell. I’m attaching pictures of the serial number. Thanks in advance View attachment 530722
There's a frame number dating thread on Retrobike for Holdsworth bikes, long thread but the number charts are all there.
I’ve had a look and can’t identify that one

If you could post some decent pictures of the entire bike that might not only help us date it, but possibly help in giving you a ball park figure.
It's a 6 digit frame number, so from the later period of production, 1976-1984ish. It'll begin with a 3 (the numbers never went high enough to begin with an 8) so circa 1981 is your answer.
I’ve not got much knowledge about bikes so will be grateful for all the input. I would love the bike to go to someone who will show it love. It was built for me as a gift long time ago and I had some great cycles on it but I don’t use it often enough anymore.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge contacts. Very helpful! I was pretty sure the frame wasn't manufactured as late as the 90s. The bike needs very little done to it to be taken back on the road. Thanks againI'm sticking with early 80's, 1981 +/-1. Some people will look down their noses at 501, but that grade of Cromo (as well as 4130) has every similar mechanical properties to 531, so in terms of function and weight there is naff all in it. It wasn't really inferior, but because it was cheaper to produce the asking price was less and the brain-dead simply presume it's therefore somehow inferior.
It looks original, largely unmasked with and in reasonable order. The headset is STX, which was only made for the 1995 model year (it became STX-RC in 1996 and was dropped altogether in 1997), and while it could be used on anything it was marketed as an MTB component range, so that is without a shadow of a doubt a later addition.
The market is in a state of flux with the recent demand for anything usable for under 400 quid going through the roof, but I'd guess at 200 sheets, accept no lower than £175. @biggs682 has more experience of buying and selling in the classic market than me so he may be able to give a better idea.
@biggs682 Hi Would you be so kind and share your opinion on this bike? I can provide more info and pictures if needed.
