Hi...Looking for a bit of advice please. I'm a complete novice who needs a hybrid for commuting etc. I've narrowed it down a bit and I'm looking at either a Specialized Globe Vienna 2, a Felt QX65 or a Scott Sportster P6. I'm on a tight budget of approx GBP300 so any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks all

Hello CovMat

I have no experience of Scott or Felt hybrids but I have owned a Spoecialized hybrid for almost 1 year and it has serverd me really well  You might also want to check out the Specialized Sirrus.

Welcome to the forum BTW

Trek have a 7.1, then there's the carrera crossfire I think around that price range.

Hello mate. I've rode the felt, and owned the p6. Have you rode them yet ?

Not yet...hoping to get a test ride next week.
I reckon when your talking 300 and below, dont worry about specs to much ... just make sure they fit well.

Unfortunately it looks like it's going to have to be from Evans as that's what my company's using for the Ride To Work scheme.

I'd recommend looking at the Ridgeback Cyclone. I've had one for the pat 3-4 years and it's been great. I got a rack fitted to it and full mudguards and it is the business.

I do a 30 mile round trip commute a couple of times a week on it. Fitted with slicks and high pressure tubes it punts along at a fair old rate though obviously as fast as a proper road bike.

Handles trail riding fine too.

Components seem decent enough and the only things I've done maintenance wise over the past 4 years is:

1. Get a service from the LBS every 9 months or so
2. Clean regularly
3. Replaced the chain

A decent bike bike and around £300.

I ended up going with the scott p6. Had a test ride on that and a cyclone and preferred the scott
