Talking of sandals, a couple of years ago, at our evening 10's, one of the riders (won't say his name, I'll just call him Mr Smith) turned up without his shoes and rode round in sandals. Think he did a 23 that night, he certainly came past me very quickly.
Shimano seem to do a lot of business in cycling sandals in the States. I've a pair of good ventilated beach shoes with heavy soles that I use for cycling. Lets the feet breathe, and perspiration doesn't build up.
