Im about 10 and a half stone and 6 foot, not really a lot to shed there - its more a case of getting some fitness than losing weight!

No idea how much my bike weighs but to get it out of its hidey hole, I need to lift it over my head, which takes a bloody hard effort! This is the part where it turns out to be really light and I learn I'm a weakling!

So keep cycling till it hurts and just keep trying to get a bit further up or along each time it is!

Get a heart rate monitor and keep your heart rate in your desired zone.

What conclusion? Is it not obvious? Get a HRM keep you heart rate in the zone to train your cardiovascular system and you will improve stamina.

If you know what's good for you ...
Can only say what everyone else has already told you. I live in quite a flat area now (I used to live near the Alps!), but there are one or two hills in most places, even here. So I choose the hardest hill and go up and down it several times - then I start carrying weight, which I increase gradually. Also, I find running helps develop the cardio-vascular, especially if you integrate some sort of sprint training. Wind helps too - if you cycle in a headwind it can develop your strengh and stamina. Finally, take a look at this great video.

Just practice, there's no rush so take your time, if you have to stop then stop. Go a little bit further each time and in the end you will have climbed the hill in one go.
Don't over think things, don't complicate matters, just pedal.

There was a time when cycling up the drive was my Everest:blush:

Thanks for the advice guys - went out on a few hills today and beat my friend up them which was both a novelty and enjoyable. While he was on his pedals standing struggling, I glided up nice and easy - or so it looked!

Thanks again!
