If you can't find a club, go solo for a while and enjoy the roads and lanes between Brentwood and Chelmsford:

Plenty of good pubs to stop at for well-deserved refreshments.

Otherwise look out for the CC folk on here who get together every now and then for a jaunt around the countryside.

I used to cycle with the Sky Ride folk. They go in two groups, slow or fast.sorry but I cannot recall any names but you can try googling for skyride and choose locations around Essex.
