it is five months since my hernia op.Last week i climbed a ladder for the first time, yesterday and again today i turned over the flower bed.I am sat here with a pain in the shape of a triangle ,i kid you not and sometimes it pulses. How can you do too much four months after it is supposed to be ok.Anyone had a hernia op and had problems like this later.

Had a hernia op at the end of October that is still causing me pain. It was a two sided operation, with one side being a repair of a previous operation, and its the repaired side that is causing the most pain at the site of the hernia.

I am able to go back down the gym OK, and dig my allotment, but cycling really irritates it (feels like the mesh they put in is rubbing against some nerves).

I'm currently cutting back on the cycling, and trying to be patient with it, but it's not ideal. The doctor can find any problem with the surgery, so hopefully it will ease in time.

Yes it was at least a year before all discomfort settled down. I still get the odd twinges 30+ years later when heavy lifting

Pretty much the same as this. I had one 20yrs ago; had to take it steady in the months afterwards and it would often give a dull ache to let me know it was there.

The frequency of these instances gradually decreased and now I can't remember the last time I had one. I think the 2-3" long scar's completely gone too, now

Had one about 8 years ago. I can't remember now the recovery period in terms of lifting things, but I do know I was back on my bike doing 30 mile rides in about 5 weeks.
I still occasionally feel something inside me. It isn't painful, more a discomfort, but it is a reminder and if it repeats has me a little concerned.
