Hi,

I've fitted the new 11/28 10 speed cassette and a new chain. I've used the advice for chain length from a previous post. I've watched some videos on YouTube on how to set this up but for the life of me cannot get the rear derailleur setup. If I get it happy in the 6th cog by the time I've move up to 3 it's horrible, if I then try try to move to 2nd it jumps to 1st and then it's between 1st and second. Help please.

I usually start on the smallest sprocket (11) and (making sure the gear changer is in the correct position for that gear) turn the adjuster on the dérailleur until the chain starts clipping the next sprocket, then bring the chain back a tad (using the adjuster on the dérailleur) so it runs freely. After that, you shouldn't need to turn the adjuster more than a single full turn to get them all indexed (I usually do quarter turns).

Ok I will double check this, thanks.

Do gears sound different from the bike stand to the road?

Cable stretch if the bike has been ridden? Hasn't taken long for this to happen on my two new conversions, under 100 miles. Graunchy, slippy gears

This has only happened since I fitted the new cassette this morning was fine until now. I've just been on the road and it seems a little better. Annoyingly in the big from chain ring anything up from 4-5 makes the front derailleur rub. I sometimes think setting up gears is a black art!

I think I might, just really annoying when you watch online vids and they make it look so simple, I hate wasting money on other people labour.

Does the height on the front look OK? I should have shifted up before posting.
