Hi,
I have just purchased my first road bike, as I want to start doing some cycling. I have got most the stuff (cycling shorts etc) but still need a cycling computer.
Could you please suggest some options for some up to and around £50 and preferably wireless, although wired wouldn't be a massive problem is it is better. Also I would really like cadence.

Please say if you need to know anything else

Thanks

I use the 'Garmin 200' which is a gps computer, (no magnets or wires needed) it doesn't offer the cadence facility but you can upload and download your rides to the garmin site. It's been on sale at Asda for £69 i think.

Strada cateye without cadence as not interested. It's great for speed and distance which is all I really want to know.

I am however upgrading to edge tourer to follow routes easier. Again not bothering with cadence sensor for it.

Cateye Strada are excellent little computers, but the display is on the smaller side of compact. Your budget would easily get you a brand new WIRELESS one.

The B:twin Count range are very good as well and offer excellent VFM too. Your budget would get the top of the line COUNT 14 model, or you could save £££'s with one of the other models.

As @Cycleops mentions, check online for offers, or even check the CC classifieds HERE, there's always someone upgrading at one time or another.

FYI - @gbs was selling a Strada Wireless one HERE, it was back in May TBH but it doesn't say it sold, may be worth a PM ;)

Thanks, I will look at the Count 14 model, but the Strada you suggested doesn't have cadence.
Although I have seen a Boardman 22 function for £40 and that is in budget, wireless and has cadence, so will probably go for that.

Although i have used computers, both wired and wireless in the past and found them use full, I now tend to just use my phone with Strava for recording my rides and uploading to the website. Ipride has got a great looking bike computer look to it as well. Most of these apps allow for the use of blue tooth devices such as heart rate monitor and cadence sensors. Worth a look maybe.

I have considered using my phone, but decided that I didn't want to risk it falling out off its holder, or to break, and it would cost quite a bit to replace!

MapMyRide is also audible, so you can stick the mobile in your pocket and have it tell you, current speed,...total distance,..time,...average speed and a whole lot more. I download with the edge 200 to Strava, both have their good points.

Sigma BC16.12 STS, £44.60 from Ribble at the moment, maybe a little less if you search - e.g. Rose.

That looks good, is it better than the Boardman 22 Function? Because I can also get that for a similar price.

That looks good, and I will have a look at these apps. Thanks
