I currently have a Garmin 705 with CN Europe NT 2011.10 maps on the SD Card.

I'm planning to get a Garmin 800 this Xmas but am unsure what to do about the mapping. The option seems to be to buy Garmin GB Discoverer 1:50K maps.

Can anyone tell me

1. Could I just take the card out of my 705 and put it in my 800?
2. Are the Discoverer 1.50k maps better or worse than the CN Europe maps?
3. As I own the CN maps, can I use them on both units?

PS, do people who have swapped from the 705 to the 800 think it was a good move?

Cheers

Worked for me.... however you cannot put the OSGB into the 705

Apples and Pears. The OSGB Discoverer is classic Ordnance Survey,

The NT is more of a Sat Nav road mapping system. it depends how much info you require.(and just to complicate things consider the OSM Cyclemaps a free alternative that adds routable cycle tracks)

I have done so successfully

Again apples and pears. The advantage is the touch screen and a better mount, but the 800 screen is less crisp and you lose the ability to communicate between devices

Thanks - that was a detailed response.

The main reason I want to upgrade is that I find my 705 turns itself off quite often when I tell it to navigate a stored GPX ride. I am at the latest software level and out of maintenance. I've hard rebooted several times but still get the problem. Any ideas anyone?
