Yes..............

You'll need to find out the Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) though...if it's Road shimano, it should be 130mm, if triple (MTB/touring) 110mm. I doubt it's compact.

Best bet, and cheap (but great quality), are the Stronglight Dural chainrings - see Ribble cycles - I've been using these for years on my old 7 speed road bike. Ribble also do Stronglight Zircal ones which are loads more expensive, but very nice indeed.

What chainset is it - look at the back of the crank, should give a serial like AB1234 if shimano.

Thankyou fossyant, just order from the ribble a set of Stronglight Zircal 53/44t chainrings for around £51.00. Hope to get a bit more life out of them, only got 1600 miles out of the originals that came on the bike. What you getting out of yours?

I'm not an expert on gears but won't the 53/44 duplicate a lot of gears?

It came with 52/44 but wasnt quite enough for the down hill so i thought if i get one extra tooth it would be just enough. Didnt think about gear duplicatation whats your thinking?
