I'm tied up next few weeks..

Headset are easy. Just drop the bearings into the cups if integrated, or if external, you may need the lbs if you aren't confident with a hammer and a block of wood or two. BB will need the hollowtech adapter to fit. Check park or sheldon for instructions.

What you building now.

The refund re the "Pina" has allowed me to buy this frame (Much more aggressive than my Fm028) and a new 105 Groupo

but left me totally skint now so cant stick it in a bike shop, have no idea about the headset, I think I can do the BB after looking on Youtube, but the headset ???

have you got the headset for the frame/forks? It's probably integrated.

If so - the crown race slides on the steerer.

Then you put either of the bearings the right way up on top of the crown race and thread the steerer though the headtube.

Then pop the second bearing the right way up on the steerer and sit it in the headtube.

Then on goes a washer and the top cover.

Next pop the spacers and stem on and then tighten the top cap as normal.

It's a 5 min job when you know what you are doing.

Thanks , if I post a pic could you tell the type , also I think it's an expander wedge , nit sure how they work ( I'm not a girl , honest )

Don't worry about the wedge for now.

All you need to do is look inside the headtube.

There should be an angled ledge as per the image here.

(click on next and then click the integrated option.)

I was in a similar position a couple of months ago. My new frame came with an integrated headset, which I'd never installed before. Accountantpete gave me a bit of advice, and it took about 2 minutes to install the headset (of which about 1 min and 30 seconds was spent removing the headset from the packaging). Very easy...

Is it an external BB? If so, again it's a very easy job.

It ain't necessarily so.

Outboard bearings may require the BB shell to be faced before these are fitted and that requires a special tool. And yes, I know that people fit these without doing so, but the result can be replacement bearings every few thousand miles.

You're right, the frame may need to be faced and the threads chased. I've changed from square taper to external BB on a couple of my bikes and no problems to date (>4000km). Perhaps I've been fortunate.

If it's carbon I'd definitely take it to your LBS if you've never done it before.

Aye. You can bugger a frame very easily messing this up, not worth the risk, I reckon.

Well, it is carbon, now I dont know what to do

If it was my bike, I'd take it to a shop Gaz.

I built my LHT up from a frame - I built the wheels for it too. I'm not lacking in confidence, and flatter myself that I know my way around a bike.

I got the shop to fit the headset & prepare the BB shell for me though.

If the cranks spindle lines up ok between the cups I'd be tempted to try without facing the shell, but I'd echo the LBS for the headset. I have fitted headsets on steel frames, but needed a large hammer which is of course a no no on carbon.
