Washing your helmet pads is a good idea. In my experience they tend to get full of salt from sweat during hot rides. If you then get stuck in a deluge rain washes through the pads, dissolves the salt and runs into your eyes making them sting and stream. I've had to stop on a few occasions due to being blinded by salt water in my eyes.

I normally soak them in warm water for a few minutes.

I've just cleaned my helmet, I got caught in the rain :rain:

Peel the pads off, put them in a mesh bag - the sort used for tights and bras etc - then put in with the washing machine with a synthetic load.
