getting a helmet light soon, they really catch the eye on commuters when I see them, and on a recent audax in pitch black I too found my good front light was not good at looking round bends

The Exposure Joystick looks good, but it's a bit on the pricey side.
Any other options sub £100 ? Ideally with a red on the back as well.

Cheers.

A fantastic front light that can be very easily attached to your helmet is the new Exposure Flash light. Very tiny and super bright. You just use the supplied bracket and put around your helmet, no bodge job required.

I have had a number of good reports from colleges at work who have seen me on my commute. They said that the helmet light is the most noticeable part of me and are shocked of the amount of light that comes out of it when I show them how small the light is.

I also use a hope vision 2 on the bars. But the helmet light is more directional as it points straight at other road users rather that just ahead like the hope vision on my bars.

I have posted a review on wiggle, see link below.

I picked up a headtorch from my local Range store. Its a cheap and cheerful 3 led unit with an elastic strap. I removed the strap and cable tied it onto my helmet. The light unit easily unclips from the base plate if required. Its not overly bright, but it does help with looking around and for £1.59 its not really going to be an issue if it does nothing at all!

I have a H7 Lenser, claimed 170 lumens, £38, cable tied to my helmet, gives a nice spot for preventing most drivers thinking about pulling out on me.
I can also easily adjust the angle of the light and whether it is a flood or a spot light.

So I went for the Fenix PD30 in the end. My mum got it for me for Christmas, but I didn't know it was being delivered straight to my house, so I opened it. Of course I couldn't resist getting it out to check it. It's very bright indeed.

It's got a built in pen-type clip, so I think I can secure it with a couple of cable ties.

Only downside is the batteries - it takes CR123A batteries rather than AA, but you can get rechargables in that type so I'll grab a couple.

For the rear, the Niteride Stinger looks good, and I think I can mount it on the helpmet, even though it's designed for a seat post.

The picture looks like it's white, even though it says rear. Do you think there's a filter that comes with it, or is it a red LED inside a clear cover?

I have a fenix l2d on my head. It's a great 'out of the oridnary' light to get noticed by motorists, handy to see where I'm looking; and bouncing the beam off roadsigns is immense fun.

Can anyone advise on this question? I like it, but I can't tell whether it's red or not!
