I literally just realised that I can take the brim off my helmet and I was wondering what people's thoughts are on this aestetic?

It looks way more pro off, but I like being able to see it, and my bike in no way looks pro being a tricross and commuterised to hell with a rack guards and massive lights.

Thinking to leave it on but am swayable.

I use the visor when mountainbiking bit not when road biking.

Not really sure why...probably an image thing!!!

I pull them off and wear a cap under my helmet; if you are riding a road bike this is the only acceptable option.

MTB/Hybrid = brim on
Road bike = no brim or pull it off

This is because of the 'more' head down position (of a road bike) and a brim may obscure the vision, mefinks.

Took mine off, although in the picture (left), it is on as it was 25 miles on a very sunny day but it does mean I have to raise my head a bit higher to see.

I always left mine on and never quite got why people took them off.

Having got a road bike a few weeks back I now understand.

So -

MTB - On
Roadie - Off

I'm a bit concerned taking it on and off will wear out the little push fit clips so will probably get a helmet specifically for road riding soon.

My current helmet has no brim, but previously i used to fit mine if it were raining or for night riding. Particually useful for damn full beam cars, dip your head and use the brim to shield your eyes.
Safety came first for me, no good being a purist and getting blinded by oncoming cars...that's scary, its incredibly difficult to see anything when a car's close with main beam on in a pitch black countryside road. It didnt stop it 100%, but did make it much easier to cope.
