Bit random, but flicking through the stats in my tdf official guide, seems all the riders are really light, even when tall (Froome, 6ft 1", just under 11 stone - taller than me and about 3 stone lighter and I'm no jabba!) so just wondered if anyone knows "fattest " winner of the tdf?

Indurain was 80kg according to wikipedia. I doubt there are many heavier than that.

It seems to be (with my minimum of looking )

François Faber

First foreigner to win the TdF in 1909. Still holds the record for 5 consecutive stage wins.

1.78m tall - 88kg (5' 10" tall - 194lb)

A slightly different race in those days though - from the link "Still the weather got worse as the next stage left at 2am to ride to Lyon. Faber's riding attracted a crowd of 3,000 to see him leave and what was said to be 20,000 to see him finish. He won again after riding the last 62 km alone after a day of potholes and knee-high water. He climbed the col de Porte in a wind that twice blew him off his bike and being knocked down by a horse.

Roger Walkiowak, the 1956 winner was seemingly a big lad - not sure how big tho.

Magnus Backstedt managed to haul his ample frame over the highest peaks not too long ago, he must have been pushing 100kg - although he didn't win it.

Indurain probably the heaviest of recent times, but he was (still is) a big, tall fella. Bags of power and the heart of an ox. Ullrich was no lightweight either.

Only a inch taller than Froome, who is 11kg lighter, according to wiki.

Ullrich was 72kg - again, according to wiki - 3kg more than Froome (and he is an inch shorter at 6ft)
