I'll do this in Imperial even though my data is in Metric.

I've been cycling for a few years but over the bad winter I didn't go out at all and as such put on 3/4 of a stone. So I was 13st 3lbs (my biggest ever) in April this year. I cut out all my bad habits from the winter months and have been eating better than the previous summer, and am generally more active. I'm now at my lowest weight since school (I'm 39) at 11st 10lbs (I'm 5' 10"/male) and that is mid-morning in my clothes/shoes on the electric scales in Boots -and suspect I am actually closer to 11st 7lbs (as I was 11st on the bathroom scales this morning)

Using Strava and MyFitnessPal I have a good idea of my calories in and out but am now struggling to eat enough calories to maintain my weight and so I'm still losing it. What does everyone eat after a 1000 calorie plus ride? I don't think multi-packs of Mars Bars are a good idea.

Bananas, pasta, rice. Carb up.

If you just want to put on weight, the multipack of Mars bars are probably your best bet.

Keep it natural, meat and dairy products.

Avocados, peanut butter, coconut, olive oil.

You can knock up a quick satay sauce mixing peanut butter, coconut milk, red curry paste, boiling water and microwaving until thick. Poor that over meat veggies and serve with rice. Or cook a load of Mediterranean veggies (aubergine, courgettes, peppers, tomatoes, onion, garlic etc) in plenty of olive oil and serve with pasta. Or do what I did last night an heat up half a pizza and accompany it with a beer. Might explain why I'm not losing weight I need to lose.

Thanks guys. I'm always wary of eating too many refined carbs, and I still have a bit of a pot belly; everywhere else I'm wasting away ;)

The satay sounds nice, although I might use a pan

As to flapjacks: I'm a baker and apart from the oats they are horrendous for you. That said, I buy those Mighty Oaty flapjacks from Aldi to take on rides as they the "healthier" honey types; and they are horrible enough that I don't snack on them at home.

Unbelievably being Welsh I have consumed huge amounts of lager the past three weeks, and have spent numerous inactive days hungover and even that hasn't helped.

Worth it tho?

If losing weight but consuming enough calories, maybe get checked by your GP for peace of mind. You're pretty close to the age 40 health check offered, so just bring it forwards a little

Going by BMI which is a better guide for people around average height you are roughly just over the middle range of normal weight. Unless you keep getting ill or have fitness issues on the bike I would not worry about it. The pot belly is part of getting old and unfortunately it is easy to make that grow !!!

I'm not overly concerned at the moment but it can't keep going down at this rate indefinitely. I can eat 2,500 calories a day, but if I burn 1,750 like today (however inaccurate Strava may be) I can't eat 4,250!

I only did 40km today but 1,500m in elevation gain I don't really want to look like a pale Nairo Quintana :s

Go with 40 cals a mile if hilly. So around a 1000 calories. To maintain weight, guidelines suggest around 2500 plus any additional burnt through exercise, so have 3500. A proper roast dinner and half a bottle of wine should give you a couple of thousand
