Thanks for the replies. I saw the doctor on Wednesday and it seems that even though the receptionist told me over the phone that my blood test was clear it actually wasn't. I have a high white cell count indicating a possible virus and also have a low B12 level. Doc said strenuous exercise when fighting a virus could lead to the symptoms I had. Low B12 levels would contribute to lack of energy. I'm certainly glad that they've found something to work on.

The like is for going to the Dr. At least now you have something to work on. Lets hope your back on your bike soon.

So glad that it seems to be a fairly simple thing to sort out ! and once you have yourself back to a better level of "fitness" all this will just be an unpleasant memory lol,and as per your later post just take it easy even once you are back on the bike just build the mileage up slowly and before you know where you are you will be going at x mph and so many miles etc but please remember Rome WAS not built in a day lol.
