The weather finally calmed down today so I managed to get out after work. The new bearings have transformed the bike, it's like a new machine, very happy with it and I even PB'd one of my local routes

Thanks again Eddy.

PS - The cups are actually metal, only found out once removed. I presumed they were plastic due to the crack in the top one, must have been some force to crack the metal!

I went and got a new split ring and dust cover/top hat. This replaces the old split ring, and separate dust cover and top hat. Additional spacers were then needed as the new top hat/dust cover combo was much shorter than the old separate affair.

All appears to be working perfectly now

Hello
I understand that the topic is very old. I had to repair the same headset. But simply putting the bearings inside is not enough, because they are all thin.
What type of spacer did you add on top of the bearing to resolve this issue?
