I Googled "Bell Sweep R" and there are a couple of sites selling them for £45 - £50, but sizes are more limited.

Really tempted now, but would like to try one on first. Slight hijack, but can you return helmet to online suppliers if you don't like it? I went in Cycle Surgery y'day and there was a sign up saying no returns on helmets, because they couldn't sell them on as they wouldn't be able to confirm their roadworthiness. Sounds like a load of tosh to me, but....

BM stop it..... saved my bonce recently from a nasty headach and gravel rash.

If considering a helmet, pop into a shop and try the display ones on. If the price is silly, walk away and buy on-line.

I took the chance with the Bell, although did try my now busted Giro on in the shop (Deeside Cycles - not local, but I was passing).

I'm not doing anything - that site really does show both pro and anti helmet data, what sort of protection to expect from a helmet, and more importantly it shows how safe cycling really is. I think that's really important.

TBH - I wouldn't read too much into anything.....if it saves me from a trip to A&E and a nasty cut then it's worth it..... it's only happened once, recently, in 20 years of lid wearing....

Oh and even my new Bell got a knock the other day from an overhanging branch...on a main road......

I sweat buckets, so with a good vented lid, I use a scull cap under - be it winter weight, or a wicking fabric in summer - that soaks up the sweat, the helmet evaporates it, and I am a happy bunny.....

I found these two sites. I've not had any experience of either site, just what came up on Google.

Active Sports £45 but only in small: http://activesportskit.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=97_21&products_id=1604

Merlin Cycles £45: http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=1581&categoryId=11

I can't believe it, but I'm still holding back on getting one myself - all because I don't like the colours they have in stock. I know, what a tart.

Edit: Those above are prob the 2008 models - Stonehenge Cycles are selling the 09 version for £70: http://www.stonehengecycles.com/product/4701/09_bell_sweep
