Well, write it down boy ......
What is everyone's preference for starter words? My wife always starts with "raise" and "mount", but I prefer random words (I currently use my cat's name "Dusty"). For a while I used the previous day's word as a starter word, but then found I often couldn't remember it! Part of the fun, for me, is dreaming up starter words, the more obscure, the better.

Spare, and then tonic. That covers all the vowels (well, by elimination), and the most frequently used consonants.

Is it? Thanks.

Yes it's a type of tie a bit like a Cravat, if you watch John Wick, Ian McShane wears one in it.

I pretty much stick to the same starter ATONE and if that's a blank will sometimes use URSID as a second guess as that covers all the vowels.

Another 4 today.

Another ATONE-user here. I play a self-imposed hard mode (at least, I've not found a way to get the game to force it) where once a letter has been identified, either yellow or green, you have to use it, so there's no elimination words or backwards steps.

One thing that often strikes me is that I'm not alone in choosing a relatively obscure word in preference over a repeated letter: eg if faced with SI?ED I'd probably go for SIRED over SIDED. Now I come to think of it, this isn't the best example as the answer is rarely a past participle (and never a plural!)
