Go and do something else for a bit then come back to it. That's what I do and usually find it slots together nicely.

Yes, sometimes too many clues can make it more difficult! Had 4 yellows on line 2 today, so basically an anagram but with a letter missing, and options restricted because positions of letters were eliminated in lines 1 and 2.. Eventually got a word to fit, but it took a while .

Yesterday my line four yellows were different to those on lines one, two and three. Then it was all greens on line five. Also Monday I went from three greens to five blacks to five greens. It's a useful strategy sometimes, can't be done in hard mode though.

I did that today between lines two and three. As @winjim says it is only allowed in standard mode.
