Have you been properly smitten...with a new bike?

Have you ever been smitten with a bike? Does it wear off (am sure it does - said partly in jest but didn't expect to love it so) and what was the bike? My new bike is temporarily living in the kitchen (there are two others in the garage already for one thing) and every time I see it I feel a lust for it! And the urge to ride it. Or may be it is just the latter - adding that so I don't sound insane. I want to caress the bloody thing.

It's the smooth lines and how good it feels when I ride her (the first thing I've ever owned that I've wanted to refer to as he / she). Is there hope for me? A place in The Priory?

Would that be a Trek by any chance?

My newest bike is a Trek (Pilot 2.1) but the bike I'm still smitten with is the Pashley.

She / it is - how did you guess? What's more I never even intended to look at a Trek partly cos they use their logo so liberally. I'd gone to a shop to try a Wilier which was too small and I didn't like the ride either so to use my time, said tell me more about Treks as he seemed genuinely well informed. 2 weeks and 2 rides later, a very happy customer.

Why the Pashley Jim - were you a girl in a previous life? Though they are a classic and got to say they have something about them.

I was totally smitten with my Moulton TSR27 when I first got it, and still am. The looks are great, but the ride is the best I've experienced in over forty years of cycling.

Smitten ?..yes definately, and even the wife recognised it !!!
I was at my LBS, deciding which new bike to have. My eyes were drawn to the celeste Bianchi...whoarrr !! I like it.

I looked at a Felt, disregarded the Treks (sorry, sure its a fine bike, but just not for me) and while i was perusing various models, the guy at LBS said something along the lines of..what about blah blah ???. The wife who was waiting patiently nearby said ' no...i know which one he'll go for'.

Did it show that much in my face ? She certainly picked up on it.

I got a little bored with my previous red and silver Bianchi...over two years with the celeste, still love the look.

I am well and truly smitten with my new Giro 300,

Has been years since I have had a road bike and picked this one up on friday. Have already covered about 70 miles on it this weekend and hoping to go over the 100 mile total tomorrow weather permitting. Its a shame that I have to go back to work on Wednesday or I could happily see myself hitting 200 total by the end of my first week of ownership.

Makes a big difference compared to my old sintessi hale bopp that was used for commuting for about 2 years, must have covered thousands of miles on it but never had the feeling of 'must go ride' that I am getting with the new shiny dawes.

Well apart from my best friend the first time I laid eyes on her, yes, my heart was stolen by a celeste Bianchi too!

It was on one of our work charity rides from London to Paris and one of the guys turned up on his and I instantly fell in love with it  . The rest, as they say, is history  . My cycling chums all laugh at how I refer to her as Biancha!

I can understand...not usually a fan of Dawes, of what I have seen anyway but I like that
