Don't forget, bike setup is everything, so you might have the right frame size, but wrong stem, saddle, positioning, etc.
I would check this with someone who really understands it. Contact a local road cycling club, it won't be a waste of time.

Thanks for this - yes, I have to agree that the weight loss feels fantastic.
Even though I still look a little ungainly on the road bike, I would not have even considered throwing a leg over one just a few months back.

Might well hook up with a local road cycling club for advice on setup. Think it's almost there - except that I probably had the saddle too low. Noticed that my thighs were burning (at the front) after a couple of hill climbs. Think I need to get used to getting the seat high enough to allow a good leg extension and also not rely upon sitting on it at traffic lights etc.
