I've just discovered that my hand-span (tip of thumb to tip of little finger) is almost exactly the same as the length of my foot from big toe to heel.

Make sure your foot is flat, and span you hand next to it ... do you get the same result?!

No - I'm about 3 cm short of it, but I have fairly small hands for a biggish man. I can only just stretch an octave plus one semitone on a piano keyboard.

Also the length of your nose is the distance from the tip of your thumb to the tip of your index finger when they are side by side.

Slightly OT...

If you measure your height first thing in the morning (and you'd have to measure very precisely), you will be taller than when you went to bed as your spine will have relaxed and lengthened slightly while you were sleeping.

Conversely, at the end of a long day on your feet, you will be shorter than you were at breakfast.
