Has TV technology gone backwards

On Freeview HD "ITV HD" is a HD DTV channel and ITV4 is a SD DTV channel, however even given it is SD the IPL footage is noticeably worse than most other broadcasts, seriously check it out.

I watch Motorcycle racing on it when its on, no probs, but that's on freeview. What decoder do you use.

It's built in to my Samsung 46" HDTV, it's seriously just the IPL broadcast, evey thing else on ITV4 looks okay.
