Those sort of lights got terrible reviews when I was looking, so I went with a SpokeLit which I was very happy with. It fell off sometime over summer, but it was on a folding bike, so I probably knocked it off when I was carrying it

I've noticed them, or something similar, in the past but only while alongside, i.e. not visible from in front or behind. While anything wheel mounted is not designed for head on visibility, I think spoke reflectors are better through a wider range of angles. But, as an additional aid, they can't do any harm.

Just before Christmas on Tower Bridge I came up behind a woman with red flickering Christmas tree lights dangling from her hair. Now that was visible! Maybe not your cup of tea though...:o)

More of a novelty for kids, than a serious boon to road safety surely?

When I was a lad we had to be satisfied with using a clothes peg to clip a pair of playing cards to the seatstay; the resulting clacking noise as they were flicked by the spokes sounded exactly like a motorbike!

I used to use a Tip-Top carton - it gave a deeper, more resonant sound.

The pictures are misleading, the glow is the same colour regardless which you order - a light purpley, pinkey neon kind of colour. I dont know why they even sell them in different colours, you honestly couldnt tell them apart. Also theyre designed for schraeder valves, so to fit them on a presta valve you would have to mod them ie. superglue them onto a valve cap. I dont like the idea of something spinning up momentum on my valves though.

I opted for 4 spokelits, a fiery mix of 1 yellow 1 red on each wheel which i really like as its not too flashy but very very visable - a tad more pricey though. The best thing of wheel lighting is that it moves and so is very eye catching, an illusion which is lost if you use 1 colour per wheel and turn it into a stationary ring of light.
