Although I liked the Beano, Desperate Dan was one of my favourite comic characters. So many characters in the DC Thompson universe, and many seemed to make guest appearances in each others' strips. Easy to get confused.

Still, one way of remembering is that Desperate Dan was in the Dan-dy.

I saw this stack of mostly old Beanos and a few Dandys in a charity shop in Accrington yesterday. All priced at 50p and nearly all from around the late 1980's up till 1990. The Dandy in pic' was the oldest one. I could find.
