I tried wrapping from the top and it moved, whether due to my ineptitude or my method I can't say. I did it because I too dislike that electrical tape thing. I also had a problem with tucking in to an end stop so I shall definitely try the 'skiving' method mentioned above perhaps at both ends. I agree with YS (hey stuff happens) that you need less on the drops so this is where you can stretch it out if need be.
Anyone got alternative suggestions for the electrical tape and don't say KNITTO I was never any good at that.

Rose do these:

If you wrap bar tape top to bottom it leaves all the edges of the tape exposed, not a good idea

Hi again to you all. Well I have just resorted to going back to "the drawing board" and applied the new tape onto my new bars by starting at the bottom with an inward and over direction and finishing on the tops in a forward on over direction, then finishing with an insulation tape wound over and ending with the cut edge facing backwards and only just underneath.
By finishing the tape over and backwards there is less likelihood of lifting and becoming unstuck in the rain or when on wet roads and or when splashed by inconsiderate drivers.

One more thing I should have mentioned. If you stretch the insulation tape in order to get it to drape nicely over the ends of the bar tape, the end will eventually lift. The trick is to stretch it as little as possible or, stretch it in the first round but reduce the stretching as you finish it off. If you use Nitto tape (another plug for a great product) you will never be faced with sticky residue, ever. Also, it lifts less even when stretched.

Now, post pictures of your wrap. We want to see how neat you started, how neat the wrap is around the shifters, how symmetrical the overlay is when comparing left and right sides and how perfect the end wrap is. If your photos are nice, I promise you, you will get lots of likes and become very attractive to the opposite sex.

Hi SD. Yes very nice and doubtless - extremely neat but seemingly only available in white*. A bit "In your face" on black bar-tape.
Perhaps for next time with an experimental Permanent Marker "new jacket".

You'll always have one edge exposed, whichever way you do it. Don't see how you can have 'all' the edges exposed?

Hi YS. I learned all of that back in the early days of Cork & Synthetic Tapes (I am Old School linen Herringbone) but do realise and appreciate the advances in some of the modern takes on the cycle world.
Well here goes - shoot or Bust,as they say.
