That person would be you, the consumer.

The reason nothing ever changes is because the people who can influence the situation - the consumer - by and large don't, and these businesses are able to carry on unchecked.
You're not using them. Can't see any difference being made there. Let's all sign a petition to stop using Amazon and then all stop just like that. I'll carry on living in the real world.

Not a problem using Amazon here, the best drivers we get have english as a second language not their first. Maybe the OP could answer why he thinks so many do not speak english well, I can have a good guess.

Agree with your comments.I have used Amazon for the last two years and not had a problem.

I always track the delivery and make sure myself or Mrs p is at home. Both of are retired so is not a problem.

Don't use Amazon on principle... billionaire, non-tax-paying business owners' manipulative working practises forcing workers and self-employed to accept pay and conditions the Victorians would've baulked at.

I try first to buy from shops in NE or then use Royal Mail buying on line direct from retailers.
Me too for more or less the same reasons. Plus the way they try and make you buy things by mistake when you click on their site. I just do not look at their website at all, after a few bad experiences with them.

I don't have any issues in this area, I've always recieved what I've ordered and I use Amazon a lot. Maybe once or twice it's been left behind the bins, but around here that's no big deal. Everything higher value has been properly handed over or left at a neighbour's.

My drivers are a regular lot and they're decent enough. My office is upstairs in my house and overlooks the street so I see the same guys every day, if I see them knock at a house where I know the owner won't be in, I often shout to them to drop it at mine. No skin off my nose and it must be frustrating doing multi drops in the day where you know most houses will be empty. The extra time of filling out cards and knocking on 2 or 3 doors must add up.

Those better emplowers switched off a while back, the world is changing and so are the people on it.
Sadly, that business model is one that only seeks to drive down costs by reducing pay, terms and conditions for the benefit of profit margins over philanthropy and fair taxation. The Alan Sugar approach... and if you don't like it there will always be others more desperate than you.

Employment with paid overtime, holiday pay, sick pay, flexible working hours, adequate pension, maternity/ paternity leave, paid breaks, travel time, NI contributions, PAYE all goes out the window with zero hour/ self-employment forced on those employed under 'contract'. It will get worse outside of the umbrella of EU working directives as US style working practises get endorsed by the current Government. You can't be protected from such your employers if you aren't represented by a union when the employers hide behind a foreign country's employment laws for tax purposes.

I am not disagreeing with you there, I did not say it was right. most people on here want cheaper so I guess most of us have an input.

Sorry screenman... I get upset... I employed six people who worked beside me rather than for me over 22 years and I practised what I preach and hate profit-over people business management. Nobody can become a stand-alone multi-millionaire in business unless they are ripping off the people who work for them.

As Nicolas Parsons would've said, I digress...
